Business Invoices vs Wave
If you want the invoicing half of Wave without paying $19 a month to drop their branding — and without the bookkeeping screens you never open — this is the lighter trade.
With Wave
- Your branding on the invoice Footer branding is removed on the Pro plan
- What the upgrade costs Pro is $19/month, or $190/year
- More than one business Several business profiles, but Pro is billed per business
- How much app you have to learn Invoicing sits inside the bookkeeping and accounting product
- Cost of getting paid 2.9% + $0.60 per card transaction on Starter
- Records that hold up Not stated on their invoicing or pricing page
Our solution
- Your branding on the invoice Your logo and colour, with no app branding on the page — included
- What the upgrade costs Only the Pro designs are paid for
- More than one business Several companies in one account, each with its own numbering
- How much app you have to learn Invoices, clients and records — nothing else to wade through
- Cost of getting paid No processing at all, so no cut of the invoice
- Records that hold up Locking, Trash with restore and an activity history as standard
And where they have us
- Recurring invoices: Automatic recurring billing, on the Pro plan
- On a phone: iOS and Android apps
Figures for Wave come from their own published pricing, checked on 27 October 2026. Plans change, so confirm the current terms with them before you decide.

Logo, brand colour, legal details, tax and numbering, saved as the defaults for everything after.
-
Step 2
Write the invoice
Pick the client, add your lines, watch the A4 page fill in as you type.
-
Step 3
Download it and mark it paid
Save the PDF and send it your way. Mark it paid when the money lands.
Questions, answered
See all questionsIs there a free alternative to Wave invoicing?
Business Invoices includes free invoice designs with every account, plus the editor, client directory and invoice records. Some designs are marked Pro and need an upgrade.
Does it do accounting like Wave?
No, and that is deliberate. It handles invoices, clients and the record of what is paid. Your accountant handles the books.
Can I take card payments through it?
No. There is no payment gateway. You mark an invoice as paid once the money arrives.
Can I keep invoicing as more than one business?
Yes. Add each company with its own branding, legal details and numbering series, all inside one account.
